Ed co-founded EDSON in 2025 with Sonja De Villiers and leads the commercial desk in London. He has held senior positions at several businesses, including Fujax UK, HMS Bergbau AG, and Anglo Pacific. These roles encompassed commodity investment management, logistics, risk, and trade across offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and Johannesburg. Ed’s product scope is broad, though his background has been primarily focused on ores, concentrates, and ferro-alloys. He holds a First-Class degree in Philosophy from Newcastle University.
Sonja co-founded EDSON in 2025 with Ed and spearheads the South African office. She has held senior positions at Fujax, Gunvor, and Metalmin, with a focus on African logistics. Over the course of her career, she has moved in excess of 50 million tons from inland Africa to global destinations. Also product-agnostic, Sonja brings a wealth of experience in ores, concentrates, coal, metals and minerals.
Based throughout her career in Johannesburg and Cape Town, Sonja studied accounting at the University of Johannesburg.

As a principal, EDSON focuses on EXW purchasing at the mine and CIF sales and marketing to end users. We offer trade services to our partners at any point in the commodity chain. EDSON’s customer base stems from a combined 80 years of sales into China, India, Europe and Southeast Asia. Relationships and counterparty management have been forged over an excess of 100 million of tons worth of transactions. While EDSON is primarily a risk management and supply chain specialist, optimizing trade variables is essential to running a successful commodity business. EDSON trades as principal and does not offer brokerage services.
